Subclass - 500
Overseas students who wish to study in Australia apply for the Subclass 500 (Student) visa, regardless of which education sector they are enrolled.
To be eligible for a student visa applicants must, among other things, demonstrate that they are seeking to enter Australia for the purpose of study and that they will abide by the conditions of their student visa.
Basic requirements for student visa:
1. You must obtain a Confirmation of Enrollment from intended education provider.
This is the first step. Students must obtain confirmation of enrollment from its education provider before starting the application for student visa.
2. You must provide English Language proficiency evidence.
Students may need to provide evidence of English language skills at the time of application. IELTS overall score of 5.5, TOEFL score of 46, PTE score of 42, OET band B in each component is generally acceptable.
3. Personal statement addressing Genuine temporary entrant criteria with supportive evidence must be provided.
Students must include 300 words personal statement in English addressing the GTE requirement and attach supporting documents.

Previous study
Details about your education available must be provided and how this course would be relevant to you.

Current employment
If you are currently employed, all the details must be included. It can used as support to provide reasons for gap in the study.

Knowledge about the course
Provide details about how this course is beneficial for student’s future and why not do the same course in home country if available.

Ties to home country and country of residence
Details about financial, social or family ties could be provided. It proves that you have significant incentives in return after finishing your study in Australia.

Situation in home country and in potential situation in Australia
Provide details about your financial situation in home country and any potential employment offers, if any, available after you complete your course. Additionally, students can provide details about your ties, information about Australia, potential living arrangements, financial stability etc.
5. You must provide evidence your financial capacity.
Student must have access to sufficient funds to cover your travel costs and 12 months of living and tuition fees for you and your accompanying family members and school costs for any school aged dependents. Spouse or parents willing to support the student and they have an annual income of at least AUD 60,000 for single students or at least AUD 70,000 for students that are accompanied by family members.
6. You must adequate health Insurance
Students need to arrange the health insurance for the period of the intended stay in Australia.
7. Student must meet the health and character requirement
You will be required to undergo health assessment, and no waivers are available for primary applicants. Also, you must pass the character test.
